HAMPDEN Veterinary Hospital
47/49 Cambridge Street, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, HP20 1RP

About Us

We are approved by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) as an Veterinary Hospital – of which there are only 2 in the whole of Buckinghamshire.  In addition, we are also an accredited Veterinary Nurse Training Practice.

We are extremely proud of our accreditation by the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme, which was launched in January 2005 to establish a quality assurance framework to promote and maintain the highest standard of veterinary care.

There has been a veterinary practice at 49 Cambridge Street for over 100 years. Hampden Veterinary Hospital was established in 1937 and from that time has grown to its present size of approximately 22 veterinary surgeons. Of these 8 deal with horses (under the name Baskerville, Horgan and Partners), 4 with farm animals and the remainder are based in the Veterinary Hospital attending all species of pets.  In addition to our veterinary surgeons the Practice is supported by Veterinary Nurses, Lab technicians, receptionists, grooms and support staff.

The branch surgery in Haddenham was opened in 1986. As Aylesbury grew and access to 49 Cambridge Street became more difficult, two branch surgeries were opened in Aylesbury: the first opened on the Elm Farm in 1988 and the second on Watermead in 1990. Ten years later the third Aylesbury branch on Fairford Leys Estate was also opened.

Our Equine Clinic in Whitchurch, nr Aylesbury, opened in 2005 and provides surgical, nursing and hospitalisation facilities for all types of horses including ponies, hunters and thoroughbreds.

This means the Practice is able to provide a comprehensive service covering all except zoo animals while, at the same time, offering a high level of expertise in each species.

We were proud to be selected by BBC One television to feature in eleven weekly programmes of "Animal Hospital" in the spring of 1997.

Currently the Practice has 7 Partners:
