We are able to supply current clients with a range of medicines and equipment direct from our pharmacy.
Clients often ask why we can’t just supply the medicines they know their animal needs. Like human medicines, veterinary medicines are divided into 3 main groups, which directs how we are allowed to supply them:
those that can be prescribed by vets only (in the same way a doctor can only prescribe some human medicines);
those that can be sold by a pharmacist or specially qualified person (like those human medicines that a pharmacist can sell from a chemist);
those which are on general sale over the counter (like those generally available from pet shops).

Free car parking is available at our Barrettstown Equine Clinic, and at our Hampden Veterinary Hospital.
Medicines can only be prescribed for an animal that is under our vets’ care and attention. This requires physically seeing the animal and at regular intervals throughout. Repeat prescriptions may be allowed until the next revisit; the frequency of the visits depends on the condition/treatment. Where possible we have reduced the price of medicines used on repeat prescription and used for long term conditions as much as possible.
All medicines can be collected from our pharmacies at Barrettstown or Hampden Veterinary Hospital, or brought out with the vet when they visit if notice is given. Suitable medicines can also be posted to you by Special Delivery.
It is helpful if you can provide us with 24 hours notice to authorize and prepare repeat prescriptions, and to minimize any inconvenience to you.
