Our full 24 hour Farm Animal Veterinary Service is provided by dedicated solely Farm Animal Veterinary Surgeons. We have 4 full time Farm Animal Vets:

 

Kim Simkins MA VetMB CertCHP MRCVS - Partner
Kim graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1991, she has worked in the farm department with farm livestock since that time and became a partner in 1997. She obtained a certificate in cattle health and production in 1997. A large part of her time is spent dealing with cattle and she has a Certificate in Cattle Health and Production. Kim also oversees all the pig veterinary work.
Ian Baker BVSc MRCVS - Consultant
Ian graduated from Bristol in 1965 and has been in this farm department almost ever since becoming a partner in 1970. He has achieved considerable recognition for his work in farm animal veterinary practice. He has twice been elected President of the British Cattle Veterinary Association. He has been an examiner at Bristol University and for the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Cattle Health and Production certificate. He has been adviser to the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers since 1985; Vet to the Dairy Event since 1979 and he was appointed to the Farm Animal Welfare Council in 2000. Ian retired as a Partner at the end of 2007, but continues to work 2 to 3 days a week as a consultant to the Farm Department.
Sarah McNamara MA VetMB MRCVS
Sarah graduated from Cambridge in 2004. She first came to Hampden Vets to gain some experience of farm animal veterinary work, she hasn't left! Sarah has attended various conferences and courses including the IDF International Mastitis Conference in Maastricht and the BCVA fertility course.
Tonia Grinham BVSc MRCVS
Tonia joined us in October 2007 having graduated from Bristol University after gaining valuable experience in Farm veterinary practices in Cheshire and Cornwall. Clinically, Tonia is especially interested in cattle fertility and herd health. In her spare time she enjoys horse riding, hockey and singing.
    Outside normal working hours we are assisted by two other exclusively farm animal Veterinary Surgeons: Geoff Clarke and Jeremy Beck.
